Something Very Exciting!!!

I just saw this pop up on Challies and it has got to be one of the most exciting things I have seen in a long time --

Together For The Gospel Statement

I would love to see what other people have to say about it and if anyone knows why it makes me excited. I will post later but I just want to see other peoples take first.

Eric.

I wrote this a few weeks ago- it concerns my class "Urban Theory" if you want to know more, I give you the finest advice of MAMA -- "Look it up!"

The concept of Urbanization is about making living conditions better. The fundamental problem when solving broadreaching issues like reducing crime and making people happier you have to deal with the fact that man is corrupt. In admitting this, it must be allowed that the problem cannot be solved by making a better city or by secluding yourself from society. The problem is personal and spiritual.

I could also present the example of the search for utopia all through the middle ages and the renaissance as an example of a failure of this quest of Urbanism-- we could go on all night. The point is, man is still looking for utopia, he didn't find it then and he won't find it now -- at least not with the methods he currently employs.

Below is a link to a song, this was recorded by some friends of mine recently (if you frequent Shed of Emotions you may have already heard it.) Because of the medium quality recording and the stomping I am reminded of one of the old Alan Lomax Sacred Harp recordings.

I reccomend that everyone listen, here is the link.

Here are the words:

Now to the power of God supreme
Be everlasting honours given;
And I don't care to stay here long!
He saves from hell, (we bless his name,)
He calls our wandering feet to heaven.
And I don't care to stay here long!

Right up yonder, Christians, away up yonder,
O, yes my Lord, for I don't care to stay here long.

Jesus the Lord, appears at last,
And makes his Father's counsels known;
And I don't care to stay here long!
Declares the great transaction's past,
And brings immortal blessings down.
And I don't care to stay here long!

Right up yonder, Christians, away up yonder,
O, yes my Lord, for I don't care to stay here long.

He dies! And in that dreadful night
Did all the powers of hell destroy;
And I don't care to stay here long!
Rising, He brought our heaven to light,
and took possession of the joy.
And I don't care to stay here long!

Right up yonder, Christians; Away up yonder!
O, yes, my Lord, For I don't care to stay here long.

Right up yonder, Christians, away up yonder,
O, yes my Lord, for I don't care to stay here long.
